tawameee asks: Is eyelid primer worth the buy? and what does it do?
i was looking at some ELF eyelid primer at Target today and was curious as if i should buy it?

Eyeshadow primer is DEFINETELY worth the buy!  It makes your shadow look brighter, smoother, and more vibrant.  It also keeps it from smearing and getting those ugly crusty creases.  I have never used ELF primer, so I cannot tell you if that is a good one, but other really good drugstore primers are NYX eyeshadow base and a L’Oreal one that I’m not exactly sure of the name.  I’m fairly sure you can’t go wrong with an eye primer, and ELF is pretty reliable, so go for it and be sure to tell me how it worked for you:)

How to: Make your own brush cleaner

There are a lot of cleansers out there especially made for cleaning makeup brushes, but it can get a little bit expensive, and this homeade one works just as well!  You should do this deep cleaning about once every 1-2weeks.  

  • Get a medium sized bowl
  • Fill it with 2 cups of water
  • 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol
  • 3 tablespoons baby shampoo (regular shampoo works as well, but it can be harsh on the bristles)
  • Mix all of it together until the shampoo starts foaming up
  • Pour some of it on the tip of the brush and clean it on a paper towel

Use this with everything EXCEPT gel eyeliner brushes and lip brushes.  If you use this on gel eyeliner or lipstick, it will be very hard to get off because of the wax base.  Use some olive oil instead.  

Here is a detailed video on how to clean your brushes.  It says only use baby shampoo, but personally, I find this formula to work a lot better.

M.A.C. Haul!

Well, it’s not really a haul, considering I only got 2 things, but I’m really excited about them!

I got

-Fluidline in Blitz & Glitz

-Painterly Paint Pot

I have fluidline in blacktrack, and I am in love!  It is so smooth, creamy, and easy to put on; you get a perfect line every time.  I have been wanting blitz & glitz for a while, it just looked so pretty with the gold pearl, but not too much.  I haven’t tried it yet, but I can’t wait until tomorrow so I can use it when i get ready.  

I love paint pots.  I have Rubenesque and Indianwood, and I love them.  They are perfect for an easy, one step bit of color on your lid.  I’m going to use Painterly as a base.  I have never used them as a base, and even though I am an Urban Decay Primer Potion die-hard, I love my other Paint Pots so much, i had to try it.  

Both have basically the same packaging.  The glass pot with a black lid and somehow, it looks like there is practically nothing in there.  The Paint Pot Pot is a little bigger than the Fluidline pot.  I don’t know what it is, but this packaging is one of my favorites.

M.A.C. Eyeshadow in Antiqued As any M.A.C. eyeshadow, It’s highly pigmented,  blends beautifully, and the simple packaging gets me every time i open my eyeshadow drawer.  This color.  Antiqued.  It’s gorgeous.  It is a veluxe pearl finish, and is described as an ash brown with bronze, but when i used it at least it was a shimmery, burgundy, coppery, deep red color with gold flecks in it.  I know what you’re thinking, red colors are for lips and cheeks only.  This is so false.  When you put a reddish eyeshadow, such as this, in the crease, a color normally used as highlight on the lid (Naked Lunch), and a dark brown (Sable) or grey (Scene) on the outer corner and blend out on the outer half of your upper lashline,  the unexpected combination is beautiful.  Don’t do the expected colors and combinations on your eyes, you want to be different, and you will look gorgeous!  Just be sure to blend well and correctly!

Nars Irrésistiblement Bronzer The bronzer of all bronzers.  The color is perfect, not dark and orangey, so you look like you belong in the factory with Willy Wonka, but not sheer and un-noticable.  There is a very slight shimmer to it.  You get a very pretty iridescent sheen, but no glitter.  You can use it as a bronzer is traditionally used, or use it with an angled face brush for cheek contouring.  The pigmentation is great as well.  You need hardly any to get that bronzed look, and with the right brushes and good blending, it will look natural and seamless.  There are also 2 other colors, Laguna (lightest) and Casino (darkest).  This is the one of the 3 Nars bronzers that work best for my skin tone.   The packaging is beautiful as well.  A simple, large, black palette, with a very classy look to it, if that makes sense to anyone but myself.  The price is large though, but when has that ever stopped any makeup crazed person from getting the perfect product?

Sephora Collection Professional Fan Brush #43 I was on the fence about a fan brush for a while, but finally decided to purchase one.  From what i heard, this one was very good, and let me tell you, it is.  I have always been heavy-handed in my powder application, even with a duo-fibre brush.  I thought i was doomed to cakey face forever, until i got my hands on this.  You put on your powder normally (for me, it’s with a 129)  and use the fan brush to blend, and “move” the product  as the website describes it.  I don’t know how this amazing brush works, but it really does.  So for all you heavy-handed powder people, this is your brush.   Other things i use this for are brushing off eyeshadow fallout underneath my eyes (it’s so soft, it’s able to do that without smearing color all over), softening up a slight foundation line, and contouring your cheekbones very lightly.

Not my swatches, obviously, but here are swatches of all the NYX Jumbo Pencils with the color labeled.  Amazing pigmentation, and they have a much bigger color variety than the M.A.C. Shadesticks.
